Aquaponics is a system that uses a closed loop to create a local, water conserving, chemical minimizing plant and fish production system. Even though the technology and concept itself is thousands of years old, only recently has it been increasingly implemented as a means of growing food. It holds a lot of promise to increase sustainability.

Currently, I providing consulting for THish TANK, an organization that provides consultation on aquaponics.
I helped found and lead the team from 2011 to 2013 bringing aquaponics to the University of Waterloo.

- Led a team of 15 people in designing, building the system, marketing and recruiting team members
- Built relationships with University of Waterloo stakeholders to secure over $1000 in funding and a design facility
- Designed, budgeted, procured, built and maintained a 30-Gallon a fully functional pilot aquaponics system and showcased it to local students and community
- Organized a workshop on aquaponics attended by 40 members of the public
- Successfully transitioned leadership to the next generation of students
